Song of the week

Continuing with the nursery rhyme theme, next weeks rhyme was requested by one of our preschool children.

Humpty Dumpty
Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall,
Humpty Dumpty had a great fall;
All the King's horses and all the King's men,
Couldn't put Humpty together again.

(additional verse)
Along came the children with brushes and glue,
And stuck Humpty together as good as new!

Song of the Week

The song that we have been singing this week is Baa Baa Black Sheep.  Below are the lyrics followed by some additional versions that we have been learning.

Baa baa black sheep, have you any wool?
Yes sir, yes sir, three bags full.
One for the master, one for the dame;
and one for the little boy who lives down the lane.

'Thank you,' said the master,
'Thank you,' said the dame,
'Thank you,' said the little boy
Who lives down the lane.

Baa baa white sheep, have you any wool?
Yes sir, yes sir, three bags full.
One for the kittens, one for the cats;
and one for the guinea pigs to knit some woolly hats.

Baa baa grey sheep, have you any wool?
Yes sir, yes sir, three bags full.
One to mend a jumper, one to mend a frock;
and one for the little boy to mend his holey sock.

 What a busy day. Our builders have been very busy building houses and towers at the construction site. They were all trying their hardest to make their buildings bigger than them! We had a few wobbly moments when a big bad wolf came and blew down the walls!

For Small Group Time today, we were concentrating very hard on threading beads. Some of us made necklaces, some made snakes and others were threading on as many beads as they could fit on their string. We were talking about colours, shapes and sizes of beads and some of us managed to make patterns. What a challenge for our fine motor skills having to concentrate on getting the wobbly string through the holes on the beads.

DINO WORLD
Dinosaurs have been roaming all over the nursery this week so we thought that we would make a Dino World for them to play in.  The children decided that they needed mud, stones, trees and caves for the dinosaurs.  Lots of imaginative play has been happening here although we have been debating A LOT whether we have friendly or mean dinosaurs.

Building Site
There has been a lot of discussion regarding the new school and all the building work happening over there.  We have looked at the plans of the new school and are planning to create our own building site in the nursery.  I wonder what we shall be building in there...
