Some of the boys and girls were keen to visit the Fire Station so this week we all went on a little trip!
We visited the fire station!

We got to see where all of the Stromness Fire Fighters keep their clothes.
Some of us tried on the protective gloves.
They were huge on our little hands and made us giggle!

Lots of us didn't know that Mr Cursiter is also a Fire Fighter!
We got to hold his fireman helmet, it was really heavy!

Stromness Nursery Fire Fighters to the rescue!
We got to sit in the fire engine too!
 It was great fun.

We tried on the fire fighter helmet.
When we took down the visor, we thought we sounded like spacemen!

There was lots of fires in Kirkwall on Friday so our little Fire Fighters were kept very busy!

We all got a shot of holding the hose.
Mr Cursiter showed us how it worked.
Luckily there wasn't any water in it or I think lots of us would have been very wet!

We really enjoyed our trip to the Fire Station.
Thank you Mr Cursiter!
Many of us are keen to have a visit from the Fire Engine in the playground next term!

This week in school, the Primary Seven's have been very busy raising money and organising events for Sport Relief.

The Primary Seven's visited the nursery on Wednesday for a very special event!
They helped organise a cycle of the school for Sport Relief. It was fantastic!

Everyone in the nursery took part and we all had great fun!
Some of us were on trikes, bikes and scooters and we all zoomed around the school!
A huge thank you to Primary Seven for helping us and for being so encouraging!
On your marks, get set, go! And they are off......
We all enjoyed our visit to the Pier Arts Centre last week.
We had great fun becoming 'real artisits!'

We enjoyed looking at the work of an artist called 'Ben Nicholson' and created our own collages using different 2D shapes.
We all concentrated really well and enjoyed sticking all the colourful shapes on to our collage.

We all picked our favourite colour.
Then we started to make our super colour collages for the exhibition 'Inspired by' using a variety of different types of coloured paper and card.

Our collages are now on display in the Pier Arts Centre and they all look fab! If you haven't been yet, the exhibition showing work from the whole school is really worth a visit.
It has been another few very busy weeks in the nursery and we thought you might like a little look at some of the many things we have been up to!

We have been enjoying the lovely weather and had some great outdoor fun!
We took the tough spot outside and had lots of fun playing with the dinosuars in the wet and muddy compost!
We had great fun exploring forces using balls to roll down the bamboo tracks too!

We also had great fun pouring water down the tracks and trying to race and catch the water at the end!

Friday 7 March 2014

Yesterday, on World Book Day the morning session went on a tour of the school. We visited the other classes to show them all of our super outfits.

On our Tour of the school we meet Gangsta Granny on a scooter!

We enjoyed visiting all of the classes and enjoyed seeing all of their wonderful outfits too.

Thursday 6 March 2014

Today was World Book Day!
Lots of the boys and girls in the nursery came dressed up as book characters.

A huge well done to everyone who took part.

I wonder if you can guess who some of us came as?

Some of us even came in disguise and it was difficult to tell who was underneath the super costumes!
We made pancakes for snack on Shrove Tuesday.

We weighed the ingredients, mixed them all together, poured it in the frying pan and flipped the pancake!
Then we ate our pancakes with some berries, banana, creme fresh and honey. Yum!

Can anyone spot someone who sneaked into the Nursery to try one of our pancakes?!?!
If you need a house built, an extension or even an conservatory the Stromness Nursery are here to help!

We were keen to take out the large bricks and get building!

We had to phone our builders to make sure they were coming and check that they had the correct plans.

We have been busy measuring with metre sticks and measuring tapes to check that are buildings were the correct length and height.

This week we decided to add the large Lego blocks too.
We have been using our imagination this week to build lots of different structures.

We have been building tall and small walls, houses for guinea pigs and even castles for our princesses today!
We have even been busy adding water and electricty to our houses too.
