Last week was another busy week in the Nursery as Christmas rapidly approaches!

A huge 'Well Done' to all our little Grumpy sheep.
We are very proud of you all.
They did an amazing job of learning the lyrics and looking very grumpy!

Here are some of the children getting ready for the Nativity last week.
We practiced our very Grumpy faces!
We also needed to practice our very smiley face for the end of the performance!

Here are some very 'Smiley' sheep. Don't they look good.

We don't know what of earth has happened to these sheep but they look very grumpy!

'....what a very smiley sheep, a very smiley sheep....'

'....He grumped all day, he grumped all night......'

Here are some of the whole day children enjoying their Christmas Lunch last week too.

Not long until party day now!

The Nursery Party is on Friday between 10.00 and 11.30. Please feel free to pop back at 11.15 if you would like to meet a very special visitor.

Look back soon for some Christmas Party Updates :-)

Over the last couple of weeks the builders has continued to be a very popular place to play.

The children have been interested in the new hospital and have been busy building it here in the nursery too.

Outside, using crates and real tools the children were keen to continue their hospital play.

Here are some of the children busy at work constructing the new hospital!

We set up a display table outside the nursery for the grown up's to see.
On it we placed some of our joinery work.
Here is one of the children very busy writing signs to tell people not to touch the models.

Sensory Paint fun in the art room.
Look at those happy faces!

Time for the Dental Inspections too!

And of course.... time to enjoy the SNOW!!

We are loving to investigate ice both inside and outside of the nursery.

Over the last two weeks we have also been very busy listening to the Bookbug Picture Book Award Books.

We really enjoyed 'The fourth Bonniest Baby in Dundee' and following many of the children's interests in babies, babies and baby bumps have been appearing everywhere!

We have been further developing both our pencil grip and fine motor skills at the writing table and during small group activity times.

Here are some of the children very busy designing baby vests for the baby in the Bonniest Baby in Dundee to wear to the competition.

Some of the children also designed their own rosettes to give to the baby when he came 4th. We had lots of discussions about 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th etc...

We were very excited to invite one of our mummies and her baby bump in to see us.

We looked at the scan pictures and were very interested to know the length and size of the baby at the different stages.

We loved having some real babies to visit too!
We talked about how to look after the babies and enjoyed lots of baby cuddles too.

Mrs Tulloch came to visit us with her baby bump too.

We were very excited to see her scan pictures and find out all about her baby bump too.

One of the other Book Bug Picture Books was Gorilla loves Vanilla!
We really enjoyed this story too.
Here are some of the children enjoying ice cream in the sensory tray!
They had great fun and only a little bit was eaten ;-)

Look back soon again to see the nursery being transformed for CHRISTMAS!!

Wednesday, 22 November 2017

Here are a few more pictures from Friday.
Many of us dressed in spots for Children in Need.
We had lots of 'spotty' activities on offer throughout the day.

Many of the children kindly donated pennies and popped them onto our Penny Pudsey.

Some of the children were very eager to take the pennies to the office to be counted as soon as possible!

Many of the children decided they would like their face painted.
I wonder if you can spot any of these little Pudsey Bears?
Or maybe you can spot a little Blush?

Spotty bun decorating was available for this special occasion too!

Pop back again soon to see what excitement has been happening this week!

What a busy little bunch of people we have had in the nursery over the last couple of weeks again.

There has been lots of super learning opportunities happening and we wanted to share some of these with you.

On Friday the 10th of November, the morning children attended the P7 Remembrance Day Assembly.

In the nursery some of the children were very busy cutting and sticking to make their own wonderful poppies.

On Monday we had a very special visitor.
Pudsey came to visit Stromness Primary for our weekly Achievement Assembly.

Here are some of the children busy getting ready for Children in Need Day.
We made our own Penny Pudsey's for the children to pop their pennies on during Children in Need Day.

We have been busy investigating and exploring Magnetic and Non-Magnetic items in our sensory tray.
Many of the children have been very interested in building and construction so our sensory tray has been full of wood shavings and saw dust!

Following the children's interest in building and construction, we brought in the work bench and real tools.
Many of the children have just loved the wood, real hammers, nails and screws.
What lovely problem solving opportunities and learning has been happening here.
Some of the children have designed and made a shelf and even a crane!

Team Work!

A very different type of construction at the Finger Gym!
We have been developing our fine motor control as we popped the cheerios onto the skewers and spaghetti!

Health and Safety checks at the ready!
Linking excellently with our interest in building we had a visit from Robertson Construction.

In the Construction area there has been lots of interest in building castles.
Knights costumes and Princess dresses were added to follow this interest.

We have been listening and enjoying the story of Jack in the Beanstalk.
We threw some of our own beans all over the nursery and waited to see what would happen!

When we came in the next day, we couldn't believe our eyes.
A beanstalk had arrived!

There was also a note from the Giant and some Giant footprints!
The Giant asked us to measure and find things that were longer and shorter than his footprint!

Many of us went on a mission around the nursery to see what we could find!

We also made some Paper Mache Golden Eggs for underneath the beanstalk.
Many of us loved the feeling on our fingers!

We have been interested in the body too.
Some of us enjoyed exploring the mannequins in the art room.

Remember to look back soon and see some of the things we were up to on Children in Need Day.
