Here are a few pics from the last couple of weeks.
With Comic Relief yesterday and the opening of our new sand/stone pit area it's been a busy old week.

The children were really keen to talk to Sam Green this week.
Lots of eager children keen to help as the final touches are added to our outdoor area.
Peep! What can you see through the fence?
Not long to wait now!

Yeah fun in the sun!
Is there anyone in there?

Wednesday was a super visit to the Muga for some parachute fun!

We now have a baby dragon in the nursery playground!
She needed our help.
She is feeling rather cold and needed some mosaic tiles to make her feel warm.
Here are some of the children designing what they would like her to look like.

Look at all of those shiny teeth this week!
It was time for our fluoride varnish this week too.

We are loving the sunglasses!

What lovely creative play and team work with the planks and tyres outside today!

Mr McIntosh popped in to say hello too!
He had some more Head Teacher Awards to hand out.
Well Done. We are really proud of you!

Drawing fun in the sun!
Spring has arrived!

Tooth Brushes, Teeth and Toothpaste fun in the water tray!
This was a very popular activity with the children.
A super way to teach the children how to brush those teeth correctly.

Here are some of the children receiving their Head Teacher Awards at Monday's achievement assembly.

Some super imaginative play in the construction area this week.
The children have been enjoying the new carpet tiles and carpet tubes too.

Music Fun!
I am the music man, I come from down your way and I can play....

Lots of number fun too!

Rainbow Rice in the sensory tray!

Do you recognise these little people!?!
Red Nose Day Fun!

Decorating our 'Red Buns' for Red Nose Day!

And finally....The Red Ribbon was cut and we had great fun exploring our new sand and stone pit area!
Cheesy smiles and waves for the local press!

Sam Green and the children cut the ribbon!

Our new Sand and stone pit area now officially open for business.
We are delighted and it got a big thumbs up from the hardest critics our little super stars!

A huge thank you to Sam Green, our local Co-op, our Parent council, our children and all our families and customers in the Co-op who helped to make the fundraising event successful!
We cannot thank you enough.
Now watch this space as we decide which part to develop next! :-)

This week we have been busy enjoying the Spring time weather in between the showers!

We visited the Muga again this week.
We had great fun investigating the hoops and the bats and the balls.

Earlier this week, we had great fun climbing, balancing and sliding down the climbing frame outside.

We have been busy exploring numbers at the writing table.
Iris' daddy Sam needed the numbers 1-7 to carve on to the Dragon in our outside area.
Many of us were keen to help.
Some of us drew much bigger numbers than the number 7!

Snack Fun!

On Tuesday, the children were excited to make Smoothies for snack!

They were very popular with the boys and girls in the afternoon session!

Mrs Kennedy was busy making Lava Lamps in the art room this week.
We also had great fun learning more about colour mixing!

Here are some of the boys and girls, further developing their pencil grip and fine motor control.
They had a very important job to do!
We needed their help to name the baby dragon in our outdoor area!
We had lots of super suggestions!
Numicon Fun in the Playdough.
We added Cheerios to the numicon and playdough today.
We had great fun making Numicon Biscuits and counting how many spots.
Some of the children were keen to find out more about adding numbers together and taking them away!
Well Done everyone!

Obstacle Fun!

Spring Soup!
Scissors and Spring Flower play in the sensory tray today!
We enjoyed using the scissors to chop up in the Spring flowers.
We also had teeth and toothpaste in the sensory tray.

How fantastic is our outside area starting to look.
We love it and hope the children will too!
Hopefully, this area will be ready for us to explore next week.
We look forward to sharing some more photos of us playing in this area when it is completed.

Making links with World Book Day last week we have been out and about in the community this week!

On Monday we had a really super visit to the Stromness Library.

A huge 'Thank You' to the Ladies who work in the Library.
There were all fantastic!
Taking the time to show us the computer, how to stamp and date the books and much more..

A huge 'Thank You' to Sally who joined us from Book Bug too.
As always the children had a super time with Sally.

Here are some of the children using the scanner and date stamper.
Mini Librarians in the making.

Time to explore the lovely library space and watch the world go by!

Thank you to the many grown ups who joined us on our visit too.
The Nursery Team all truly appreciate your help and support.
Time to explore some wonderful literature in many forms.
The children enjoyed looking at the newspapers and books.
Time to enjoy the comfy seats and relax as we enjoy the literacy all around!

Time for some more date stamping.
Numeracy too!

Time for some Book Bug Fun!

One of our favourite things.
Lycra Fun!

Back in the nursery, the children have had great fun playing in their own 'role play' library too!

It has been very popular throughout the week so is remaining for another week or two

Time for some colouring too as we enjoy the pictures of book characters.

Back in the nursery we have been having some science experiment fun!
One of our children was interested to see the pigments of colour running down from his label when the ink got wet!

Following on from this interest, we had some fun doing the skittles experiment!
We were fascinated to watch the rainbow colours we could make.
We enjoyed mixing all the colours together and were interested to find out why it made brown!

We are planning some colour mixing fun over the next couple of weeks in response to their interest.

Mud, Mud, Glorious mud.....
Making soup in the mud outside this week.
What fun!

Using our imaginations and creativity as we play with the scrap store and loose parts.

As Spring is hopefully on it's way....
Many of the children are showing an interest in plants and flowers.
We set up a Flower Shop in the Play Dough Area this week.
It has been very popular!
Here are some of the children with their flower arrangements
Some of the children are busy painting flowers bouquets to display in their flowershop.
They look really super!
