Many of us have been keen to watch our caterpillars as they grow even bigger this week!
They are huge!
We are excited to watch as they get ready to change into butterflies now.

Here are some of the children loving to make symmetrical butterflies!
They made a super job and the butterflies were fantastic!

The children put their road safety work into action this week as they went on a trip over to the Market Green.

The children all had a super time!
We are planning to pop back across next week for some more fun.

Time for lots of small group building challenges this week.

Here are the butterflies busy making a chair from the Lego Bricks

Great work!

The children had an outdoor challenge this week too.
Using the loose parts they had to decide how we could cross the nursery playground!

We watched and listened to some fantastic team work and team spirit!

We had some very exciting visitors yesterday too!

Fun Box came to visit the school yesterday morning!

They were fantastic and all of the children and adults really enjoyed their show!

Another couple of busy weeks in the nursery.
Let's have a wee look at some of the things we have been up to.

We had a very special visitor in the nursery. Emily Finlay visited us with Archie the bear.
They were busy promoting a Fairy Tale Ball.
Maybe some of you will be going along.
Many of us have loved exploring the balance scales in the science and investigation area.
Lots of us were keen to find more out about heavy and light.

Many of the children are loving mermaids at the moment.
So we popped some Playmobile people and gems at the playdough.
Lots of super mermaids were made!
We also added some silk flowers and quickly the children opened a florist shop too!

So if you are planning a wedding this summer, get in touch with the children for all your flower arrangements. :-)

Lots of fun in the Science and Investigation with our building challenges too!

The nursery boys and girls were keen to visit the library too.
They had watched our preschoolers go and wanted a wee turn too.
Here they are enjoying this lovely space in the school too.

The small world area looked fantastic and was a very exciting place to explore many different textures.

Exploring magnetic and non magnetic in the sensory tray.
A little bit of balancing too!

We added lots of different types of tape and junk to our construction area.
As you can see the children are enjoying investigating the tape!

Time to investigate Length!

Sally from Book Bug visited us last week too.
It was a special Book Bug week and we all enjoyed our visit.

We have caterpillars!
Lots of us were keen to keep an eye on them and see how big they are getting.

Time to explore the jelly outside!
We loved chopping it up with the scissors, developing our fine motor skills as we chopped.
It smelt delicious too!

Look back soon to see what we have been up to this week!

What a gorgeous start to the week!
We have all been out and about enjoying the sunshine at nursery this week!
Here's some of the many things we have been getting up to.

Climbing and Sliding fun in the sun!
As we use our big muscles to climb and stretch and slide.

We have added some mesh netting onto our fence this week.
Many of the children have had great fun developing their fine motor skills while weaving the pieces of material in and out of the netting.

Time for some of our younger boys and girls to explore the hall for some ball fun too.

Keep looking back as more photos of last weeks fun will be posted soon.

And finally, Spring has fingers crossed arrived!
As the sun has started to pop out from behind a cloud, we have been busy enjoying getting out and about!

We have been busy hunting for a variety of bugs in the compost.
Using clipboards, some of us have been keen to mark make as we counted how many of each bug we could spot.
Fun with the big tunnel as the sun shone and the wind blew.
Quick, run........

Time for a little planting to begin in our planters too.
We had lots of helpers who were keen to plant the seeds and give them a big drink.

Enjoying the lovely sunshine.
We explored the big playground today. We went on a little adventure as we explored the bridge, the house and the Mugga.

As we get ready for the busy tourist season, it was time to open Orkney's newest tourist attraction!
Lots of very willing children to give you a guided tour of our Castle.

Lots of fun as we investigated shapes this week with the tap a shape.

More shape fun as we learned more about turn taking and sharing with our shape dominoes.

Time for some bug fun too.
We loved how fast the snails and slugs could move!
We enjoyed exploring them so much that we are waiting for our caterpillars to arrive. We are hoping the children enjoy watching these as they turn into beautiful butterflies.

As our preschoolers are getting ready for their journey to Primary One, we continued our exploring of the school.
This week we visited the music room.
What a fantastic time they had here!
Look at all our future budding musicians.
We think they would all love another wee trip back here!
